The Spark..

(of revolution?)

I know spark ....do you know spark? ....ol' sparky?

Spark, spark, spark, spark.... Say spark ten times fast and it'll sound just as goofy as any word you do that with. Hey, sparky! What do you call a dog with cast iron balls and no hind legs? ....Here, Sparky. Here, boy!

An old friend of mine is called Sparky. Sparkler I call him, ....hmmm, haven't seen Sparkler for a while ....Sparkler. Ever notice that words start looking incorrectly spelled after you write them ten million times? How do you spell sparkler, anyway?

But seriously, folks, I want to touch on something profoundly deep here. Something that I believe many folks have lost sight of, ....and that is the spark deep within them.

Note: I would ask the reader to indulge me here for a lack of formal citation in the case of any quotes I may refer to in this treatise. Misinterpretation and/or misattribution are never deliberately intended and no implication is made that they will positively not occur. Plato or Socrates, or one of those Greek heavy-hitters once said, "The only thing I really know is that I don't really know."
See what I mean?

To continue, the trouble with the world today, I believe, is that most people are not aware of the spark within them. What spark's that, you ask?

At the risk of losing some readers here whose mindsets no longer are open to the objective exchange of ideas, I'm talking about that spark within us all, ....the spark of life, ....the soul, ....that little piece of God's fire within us that drives our bodies and minds to strive for our aspirations and to achieve them.

It's your free will, your individual power, your kryptonite, sweetheart, ....your spark! It's the dylithium crystal that that keeps you charged up and going!

Yes! ....The spark that fires everything. God chipped a little piece of Himself off and gave it to you! He said you can fly high or crash and burn, baby, whatever you want to do. He said you have free will, a spirit, and you are allowed to make your own choices.

Here's how it works: ....if you chose to remain in accord with His laws, you can fly high, but if you rape and pillage everything and everybody at every turn all along the way, you are most definitely slotted to crash and burn.

And this spark, ....the one in you and me, is one and the same with the one that inflamed Franklin and Sherman and Washington and Jefferson, inflamed them to do great things, ....like declaring the new free republic ....and then achieving it.

I may be wrong here, of course, but I don't think so (I'll tell you why eventually). Stay with me just a minute while I explain.... I know, I know ....it's not cool to talk about God and souls and divine inspiration and such things in the enlightened 21st Century world, but hear me out a second before you go clicking off to Talk City.

Certainly, no thoughtful reader would dispute that the impetus for the Declaration of Independence and the formation of the United States was an endeavor to establish among men a free society, unchained by the brutish and egotistical autocracies which until that time had held sway over populations for centuries.

Surely, then as now, common sense would indicate that subservience to any monarch (or president) proclaiming his own infallible divinity was a suspect tenet worthy of intense examination–––especially when that subservience is demanded at the point of a broadsword (....or a tazer).

If you haven't read the Declaration lately, a quick review might help illustrate some of the points I think are urgently relevant to our current political condition. One of these, in spite of much recent Media Inc. bias to the contrary, is that a study of history clearly shows a spiritual orientation in the language and principles set forth in the formation of our republic, and a strong spirituality in most of the patriotic leaders who promulgated them.

I know that the humanists and the Randians and the hard-core atheists (not to mention all public employees above G-1) are all shaking their heads at this point, myopically dismissing the possibility of the existence of any intellect superior to their own. Nevertheless, a strict reliance upon the the forms delineated by the constitution for our democratic republic, are alone not enough to sustain a free society with liberty and justice for all.

....You need the spark ....the spirit!

I believe John Adams, fiery New England patriot, statesman, businessman, and second president of the new nation, once stated the next to the last sentence practically verbatim. He went on to say that in addition to the forms laid out in the new constitution, a generally high level of spiritual morality was necessary in its participants if the experimental new republic was to function effectively, preserving freedom and liberty as was intended.

Adams presciently stated that no amount of good procedure would effectively guarantee the intended benefits of our constitutional republic if those in influential positions who were using them were morally corrupt. Observation of the current malaise in the District of Columbia and around the capitols of the several states has largely born out Adams' pessimistic prophesy.
Modern translation: ....when the fox is guarding the hen house, he's having fried chicken. Period.

Before proceeding, let me apologize if you feel my words have too much of a preaching tone. The intention here is not so much to exhort you to embrace spirituality, though, as to merely remind you that spirituality is a fundamental building block in the structure of our free society, no matter what the current administration and their media sycophants would have you believe. Without it, freedom and liberty are but houses built upon sand.

The American republic was conceived and predicated upon the concept of and the belief in a self governing society, and the constitution was expressly implemented to preserve that condition. Self government lacking morality, however, could conceivably be an infinitely more unpleasant proposition than the unilateral rule of a benevolent dictator.

Listen! The truth is that government wants to snuff out your spark, ....your free will, and direct your life from cradle to grave. With few exceptions, these governors and bureaucrats are all professional control freaks that derive their sustenance from their exercise of power over others. Our passive acquiescence, and the resulting gradual descent to this appalling display of hubris by all officialdom, has even convinced the bureaucrats themselves of their own untouchable mastery. The fact is that nowadays they'll do just about anything to accomplish their suffocating venal objectives.

Are you aware that contrary to the much ballyhooed so-called doctrine of "separation of church and state," there is no mention of this in our constitution? The word church does not appear anywhere and the only reference to religion is contained within the 1st Amendment.

That reference explicitly states that "congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Far from mandating things such as removing prayer from schools and public places, this Amendment clearly states that congress is constrained from making any laws promoting or restricting any matters of faith at all. Period.
Modern translation: ....back the far cough!

If we would believe what Lather, Brokaw, et. al. drone endlessly on about every night on the propaganda portal, the battle would be already lost. Thank goodness that the framers wrote the founding documents in plain language requiring no expert or legal interpretation for us to understand it.

But if this is all too boring for you, think about this. Every time government does something "for your own good" (or somebody else's), it gets right back to ol' sparky....big brother is trying to stamp out sparky––your fire!

The prevailing government plan is that you behave like a good boy and don't let ol' sparky shine too brightly and everything will continue to be hunky dory. Don't rock the boat, Mister, and your name won't be on the latest Swat team kill sheet–––but you will continue to be required to pay over 50% of your life away in confiscatory taxes, and some unfortunates somewhere in the world will periodically have to bear the brunt of a few hundred tomahawk cruise missiles raining down upon them in our name–––for "their own good," of course!
Modern translation: ....shit's bad now, brother, and if we don't find ol' sparky soon and use our free wills to put things right, it's gonna get a whole lot worse before it ever gets better.

There is solace though, ....solace and inspiration in the thought of a concerted cooperation between several fired-up and like minded free wills, perhaps the way the Minutemen cooperated at Lexington and Concord. Yes, a good hard united protest is probably just what the doctor ordered, ....something like a tea party maybe.

Dust off your Declarations and hit the streets, people, and limber up those vocal cords and make some loud noise against unconscionable government before it's too late. After all, if the battle cannot be waged and won in the cerebral arena, brave souls will ultimately be compelled to invoke the mighty Declaration via the more compelling 2nd Amendment avenue.

P.S. ....I said above that I would tell you how I knew that I was right about sparky and God and all....O.K. ....One day, nineteen years ago, right out of the blue, ....He told me. That's right.

And I said, "Yes, Sir!"

It is said that courageous young colonial soldiers, bravely fighting for the new nation over two hundred years ago, often minded one another to, "Trust God ....and keep your powder dry!"

Oh, Sparky! ....Here, Sparky!
